MENTORING SUCCESS

FAIZAL, MENTORING CLIENT.

April 16th, 2018.

In 2014, Faizal came to Canada from Kuwait. His 17 years of progressive experience in insurance, banking and project management in the Middle East had culminated in three years as a successful Branch Manager at an insurance firm.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as additional technical certifications in insurance, securities and project management, some of which were earned in Canada.

After his arrival, Faizal spent a year as an Advisor at a major Canadian insurance company. He excelled in retail sales of insurance and investment products.

However, he now wished to define a more challenging Canadian career path, one that would lead him back to the banking sector.

To reach his goal, Faizal sought the assistance of the Mentoring Partnership. The Mentoring Partnership (mentoringpartnership.ca) is a collaborative effort of TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council), Seneca College, and other community and corporate partners. The Partnership matches highly skilled immigrants with mentors who are firmly established in their field. Mentors help their mentees to understand industry trends, job market and job search strategies, as well as culture, communication and networking, within a specifically Canadian context.

Faizal was matched with a mentor at CIBC, a highly effective pairing. He credits Mentoring Partnership employment and coaching staff with his success, as well:

Thank you so much for being a great coach and matching me with my mentor. He is an amazing mentor. He is a high standard and quality person and professional.  I learned a lot from him and his network. I believe strongly that our partnership will have its fruits soon.

I've been lucky to have Seneca help me and my wife. Coaching, follow up, mock interviews, and the endless support you and your colleagues provided are of extreme help to any newcomer.

So thank you so much for your efforts and I am certain that your job will continue to help many others.”

Faizal’s mentoring partnership did indeed produce a very positive outcome: “I am glad to inform you that I have been offered a job at CIBC Bank as a "Business Specialist". Thank you and your wonderful team for helping me achieve this. Seneca really makes a difference.”
